Vitamins, minerals/trace elements – for the cartilage and bones
When a person suffers from changes in their joints as a result of osteoarthritis, their cartilage and joints are placed under particular strain. This makes it important to ingest nutrients such as glucosamine sulphate, chondroitin sulphate, collagen hydrolysate, hyaluronic acid and acetylcysteine which are found in the cartilage, together with omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid).
The benefits of vitamin C and vitamin E, and also the trace elements zinc, selenium, copper and manganese are also important for joint structures. Calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K are very important for maintaining the skeletal structure of people with osteoarthritis. In the interests of combatting doping, Orthomol arthroplus is included on the Kölner Liste® (Cologne List®) to achieve greater transparency and safety.

“For the dietary management of...”
As well as fulfilling your needs as our customers, we naturally also keep a close eye on the legal provisions in our industry. We adapt the claims for our dietary foods – Orthomol Immun, Orthomol arthroplus and Orthomol AMD extra – in line with the latest legal specifications. And this is where it gets more complicated, because these products are called foods for special medical purposes. Until recently, this category of products was governed by legislation such as EU Directive 1999/21/EC, which specifies how we as manufacturers must label the products: with the statement “For the dietary management of”, followed by the disease(s), disorder(s) or medical condition(s) for which the product is intended.
